Scream
Scream is a digital painting I created to express the overwhelming emotions I felt during my Fall 2021 semester. I was excited but anxious about all the things happening in my life at the time. I have a lot of responsibilities as the president of the graphic design club and as a senior working part time while balancing my coursework and grad school applications. I was overthinking everything from club operations and applications, to deadlines and financial concerns about grad school, when all I had to do was take things one step at a time. I felt like I was a candle burning out from its own flames as I self-sabotaged my mental health. One day I just wanted to scream to release all my stress. That's when I pictured myself as the figure in “The Scream'' by Edvard Munch. This inspired me to create a piece showing the emotional connection between myself and his painting. I used a similar composition as “The Scream'' and painted myself as a burning candle to represent my state of mind.
